About us

Heritage Tree Care was formed in 2006 by Joseph Gillingham, a British Canadian citizen aiming to settle down after years of wandering. Having just “retired” from planting (1/3 million) trees across the Western Provinces, it seemed like a logical and fulfilling progression to make a career in the Trees. Toronto seemed like a fabulous place to call home, with an incredibly dense urban canopy almost unparalleled in N.America

He would return home temporarily to train as an arborist, attending the fabled Merrist Wood College in Surrey for Tree Surgery, where he learned to climb in the Oak forests of Windsor Great Park on the grounds of Windsor Castle. This was a superb education and preparation for caring for the many old Oaks of High Park and the Beaches!

Fast-forward nearly 20 years, and Joseph has worked his way to becoming one of only a small handful of owner/operator ISA Board Certified Master Arborists working in Canada.

Together with his irreplaceable team of passionate tree educators, Heritage Tree Care -has serviced thousands of trees across the GTA, leaving behind safer, more beautiful gardens and happy homeowners.
